There are many reasons to think this year for the internet dating world will be a good one. I think overall internet dating services should see an increase in their traffic and this is mostly to do with the increase in internet usage. It doesn't matter if you use free internet dating sites or paid sites internet usage in general is increasing. The main reason being cost, the cost to have internet and the strong need by most businesses and families to have internet access is at an all time high. In countries like the US and Canada where hi speed internet is already wide spread the change that is happening is via the amount of time spent online.

I personally have many family members whom I have always considered somewhat internet phobic and this year they have all spent a substantial amount of money buying gifts for Christmas. This shift is being noticed by many of my friends as the older generation now sees the internet as something that can save time rather than being scary and only full of scams and pornography. I think overall the internet is going to enjoy increased traffic and subsequently internet dating sites will as well!
